There’s a lot of blood in the streets. Let’s look back at history. We currently have have the S&P 500 down 25% off the all-time high we saw earlier in the year. This is because of the pressure put on the economy due to Donald Trump‘s tariffs. People are unsure about what the tariffs will do to the economy, and that is hurting investors confidence. 17 times since 1953 that we’ve seen a stock market or an S&P 500 SELL OFF of more than 7.5% within a three week period. This current SELL OFF is a bit more aggressive. In 69% of previous sell off occasions, the S&P 500 was back up to all time highs a year later. The most recent example of this was 2020. Right after the pandemic, the market actually surged another 43% past the previous all time high. This could potentially be a sign of things to come. We do want to proceed with caution, but history tells us this could be just another another run of sell off that will be bought right back up by investors. DON’T PANIC!!!

When it comes to building wealth, patience is a critical factor. Wealth building is a slow and steady process, and it takes time, effort, and discipline to achieve success. The process of wealth building involves a long-term perspective, and often requires making decisions that might not have immediately visible results. Patience helps investors avoid impulsive actions and enables them to stay focused on their long-term goals. Investors who cultivate patience are more likely to be able to weather the ups and downs of the market, make rational investment decisions, take advantage of compounding interest over time, leading to greater wealth accumulation in the long run.

Dollar-cost averaging (DCA) is an investment strategy that involves investing a fixed amount of money at regular intervals over time. The goal is to reduce the average cost of shares purchased by buying more shares when prices are low and fewer when prices are high.  How it works: • Invest regularly: Invest the same amount of money at regular intervals, such as weekly, monthly, or quarterly.  • Ignore market fluctuations: Don’t try to time the market. Instead, focus on consistently investing the same amount.  • Buy more when prices are low: When prices are low, you’ll buy more shares.  • Buy fewer when prices are high: When prices are high, you’ll buy fewer shares.

DCA can help investors manage timing risk and stick to their long-term plan.

Some experts say that DCA can have lower returns than a lump sum investment.

Maintaining long-term discipline can help you get closer to achieving investing success. Here are four practices to consider. • Make regular contributions and increase them over time: You can power your portfolio by making regular contributions to your investment accounts and increasing those contributions over time, whether by investing part of a salary increase, bonus or any other income earned. • Stay invested through volatile times: Volatility (fluctuations in market prices) is a part of investing and outside an investor’s control. What you can control, however, is your reaction to it. It’s important to keep your emotions in check and stay focused on your goals. • Rebalance to manage risks and maintain a suitable asset allocation: An appropriate asset allocation is also crucial for achieving your goals, but it’s only effective if it’s adhered to over time and through varying market conditions. If a portfolio isn’t rebalanced2periodically to maintain your target asset allocation, you could increase the level of risk in your portfolio. • Follow a disciplined spending plan: When you start to draw money from your portfolio, for example in retirement, it’s important to set a spending strategy and stick to it. That doesn’t mean withdrawing the same amount each year but rather setting a ‘target’ amount that you would be comfortable having for your needs and then working around that.

Coupang (CPNG) E-commerce business Coupang is known as the Amazon or South Korea. Rationale: The company has built a third-party marketplace, a lucrative membership program, and an impressive logistics network throughout the country. Coupang also offers food, delivery, entertainment, and a fast growing Fintech business. Coupang’s high evaluation is supported by rapid revenue growth and increasing free cash flow. Revenue has accelerated over the past 12 months to 25% and free cash flow has swung to almost $1 billion. Management thinks adjusted EBITDA (Earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization) margins can get to double digits which means free cashflow has plenty of room to expand as well. Despite accelerating growth, the stock is now down 13% over the past month following political turmoil in South Korea. The problem for Investors is that a political situation could take six months to resolve but once politics settles down, the stock should be ready to move higher. *Personal opinion, NOT financial advise!

Compounding refers to the concept where your investment earnings not only accrue on the initial principal amount but also on the accumulated interest earned over time, essentially allowing your money to grow exponentially through reinvesting returns, leading to significantly larger returns over long periods when compared to simple interest; essentially, “earning interest on your interest. Key points about compounding: • Reinvesting is crucial:
To benefit from compounding, you need to reinvest any earnings back into your investment, allowing them to generate further returns. 
 • Time is a key factor:
The longer your money stays invested, the greater the impact of compounding due to the snowball effect of earning interest on interest.

IONQ Inc. develops and manufactures quantum computers. Rationale: IONQ has had a terrific few months since the start of October. Shares have gone up 500%, taking the company’s market valuation to over $10 billion. Excitement over quantum computing continues to build as IONQ has announced a number of important partnerships with companies like AstraZeneca and the United States Air Force research lab. Revenues almost doubled in 2024 and are expected to double again in 2025. The problem for investors however is IONQs valuation. The company reported only $38 million of revenue over the last 12 months which means the company is currently being valued at 275 times sales (275X). Much of that revenue comes from government contracts to provide future hardware. Most importantly, the company is nowhere near being profitable as net income was -$172M over the last 12 months with -$114M of free cashflow. Both of those figures have gotten worse and IONQ management has not provided any meaningful timeline for when the company will be able to turn profitable. With Introduced competition from the likes of Google, IBM, SIKE and many others, IONQ can only be seen as a highly speculative investment in 2025. *Personal opinion, NOT financial advise!
